| The Film Society started in 1958 and was active until 1963.It was then revived in 1966 and itlasteduntil 1974. The Society entertained fellow pupils with documentary and feature films for a small charge usually on weekends. The society also helped several clubs and societies in screening films in order to raise funds for their urgent needs. |

The Advisory Committee provided the School with 5 fibre-glass tables and 100 benches costing $12,250 and 4 large attractive notice boards. The school library was also furnished with new sets of fibre-glass reading tables and swivel chairs costing $6,860 and together with new bookshelves costing $10,509 from the School Advisory Fund. Two Sanyo Water-coolers for pupils' use were also installed.
On 5 August, Mr Lee Chong Kee, the principal retired. The new principal was Mr Ng Soo Boon. The Students' Council organised the 1 st Teachers' Day tea party in celebration of Teachers' Day, and a Senior "Prom" for graduating Pre-University 2 students at the Oberoi Imperial Hotel. School blazers were granted to committee members of the Prefectorial Board, a benefit which was previously given only to the Head Prefect and Vice- Head Prefects. |

| 1979 |
Improvements were made to the school field and 14 classrooms were installed with ceiling fans. To encourage more reading, library facilities were expanded and library hours were extended. A staff library was also established.
In July, with the help of the School Advisory Committee, the School organised a "Week of Service" during which pupils used their hands to raise funds for school projects and for charity. A sum of $15,227.90 was raised. The Advisory Committee donated $1,500 each to 3 charitable organisations.
The Prefectional Board received tie pins and the School Crest which was to be won on their blazers. It also made a change in the prefects' badge.
The Students' Council conducted English Language sessions for Pre-University Chinese-medium students who were admitted that year. |

| 1980 |
The school was given a new coat of paint. Pre-University students had to finish their course in 3 years with the change of educational policy. Mixed feelings were expressed by students regarding the extended course.
The School Advisory Committee provided 10 bursaries ($1000), subsidies for Scout tours to Malaysia ($1000), a metal gate behind the School Workshop ($1,350), a wash basin in the Art Room ($140) and an office cupboard ($1,500). |

The AVA Department embarked on an expansion programme in line with the Ministry of Education's aim of incorporating the use of AVA into
conventional teaching methods in Singapore Schools. A wide selection of hardware and software had been purchased. The Department also converted the Technology room into its second AVA room, with a partitioned section for its computers.
The Computer Science Club was started with a computer supplied by the Government. It conducted a 3-month intensive Computer Science course for 60 pupils. |

The school's magazine celebrated the school's 25th Anniversary by looking back at its twenty five years of achievements.
In April 1982, the new principal of the school was Mr Wong Chong Heng. |

| 1983 |
The School Executive Committee was formed. With the help of this Committee, the school library was air-conditioned and facilities were improved.
A computer was used to store information regarding the library. |

| 1984 |
The Reading Programme, the Pre-U Tutorial Programme, and the Speak English Campaign in the month of August were initiated.
On 8 March, Mr Goh Kim Leong, Permanent Secretary (Education) /Director of Education, officially declared the air-conditioned Audio-visual Theatrette open.
From a newspaper report, it said that Queenstown among 16 schools showed the most improvement in the '0' level results for 1983.
On 12 September, Dr Wong Kwei Cheong officially opened the air-conditioned Teachers' Common Room during the Speech and Prize-Giving Day. |

| 1985 |
In January, the School Executive Committee organised a workshop for teachers to develop a school image with a positive identity and character.
The Computer Laboratory and the Language Laboratory were officially opened in conjunction with the Speech Day on 26 July by Mr Lee Yock Suan, Acting Minister for Labour. The Computer Laboratory was equipped with 26 personal computers (5 Apples, 1 NEC and 20 IBM) which were sponsored by the School Executive Committee, the School Advisory Committee and the Ministry of Education. The Language Laboratory was equipped with a teacher's console and 48 students' booths. Peer Tutoring in Mathematics for Secondary 2 Express classes was initiated. |

| 1986 |
The new principal of the school was Miss Ng Chey Keng. The School Executive Committee organised a dinner for staff at Top of the York for the good 1985 '0' Level results.
There was a Vocabulary Project and the Holiday English Language Programme (HELP). The school was also involved in CAI (Computer Assisted Learning), a pilot project, to provide English and Maths remedial teaching to Secondary One and Two selected pupils.
There was a Secondary Five Normal Academic Camp for English, Maths and Science.The Students' Council merged with the Prefectorial Board to form the Prefect Council. |

| 1987 |
On 16 March, a Teacher Development Seminar was held for key teachers at Changi Meridian. The three-day stay-in seminar, a first for the school,
was sponsored by the School Executive Committee.
"Thrillers" Drama Night was held at the Drama Centre. In conjunction with the Speech and Prize-Giving Day, there was a Food and Fun Fair, raising $55,860 for needy pupils and upgrading of school facilities.
1987 was a year of camps - PC Camp, Sec 4 Express / 5 Normal Academic Camp, Pre-U Camp, and a PM Session Civil Defence Camp at Sarimbun from 9 to 11 November. There was also the first Graduation Ball at Mandarin Hotel for the '0' level and 'A' level pupils. |

The School was involved with the CoRT Thinking Pilot Scheme for Secondary One pupils. There was also a launch of Pupil Personal Profile for the PCCG Programme. On 24 April, Mr Awang Ali Hashim Haji Daud, Director of Schools in Brunei, visited the school.
On 7 September, there was parents' participation at the forum on "Aims of Education." The first Students' Seminar on "Growth through Shared
Responsibility" was held on 3,4 and 7 November. |
